‘slumber down’ was founded in 2020 with the aim of bringing you, the consumer, top quality products at affordable prices.
Our product range is a selection of classic, good-quality bed linen, duvet and pillow inners.
Ethically sourced and locally manufactured by a family-run business, Cotton Traders, which has been in operation since 1989. The manufacturer specialises in down and feather products as well as fine bed linen. They are the largest importer and processor of down and feathers on the African continent.
The fabrics are sourced from suppliers who are known for the highest quality materials.
All the fillings, which are processed at a specialised manufacturing plant, exceed international standards.
Whilst certain raw materials are imported because they are not available locally, the manufacturing takes place in South Africa.
Over 200 South Africans are employed in the factory which is in Brackenfell, Cape Town.
Ethical Sourcing of Raw Materials
The feather and down industry (specifically, those industry members who form part of the IDFB – the International Down & Feather Bureau) have agreed to actively avoid sourcing from or dealing with any farms known to live-pluck their birds.
The feathers and down used in our products are a by-product of the food industry.
The IDFB encourages its members to adhere to the highest standards in accordance with the laws for the gathering and legal harvesting of down and feathers and the proper humane treatment of animals considering all aspects of animal welfare.
